About the role
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Tester with strong hands-on experience in Playwright to join a fast-paced QA team. The successful candidate will design, develop, and execute automated test scripts to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise-level web applications. This role requires daily on-site presence at our Sandton offices and close collaboration with cross-functional product and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Integrate automated tests within CI/CD pipelines
- Enhance and optimise existing automation frameworks
- Identify, log, and manage defects using JIRA or Azure DevOps
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright
- Perform functional, regression, and performance testing of web applications
- Stay updated on evolving test automation tools, patterns, and best practices
- Analyze automation test results, generate reports, and present findings to stakeholders
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product owners to ensure full requirement coverage
Competency
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of automation quality outcomes
- High attention to detail, ensuring reliability and accuracy across all automated scripts
- Strong collaboration skills for effective teamwork across QA, development, and product stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with the capacity to diagnose defects quickly and accurately
Qualification & Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Git and version control workflows
- Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter and k6 are beneficial
- Understanding SDLC, Agile, and software quality engineering best practices
- 6 - 7+ years’ experience in Test Automation, with 3+ years Playwright is mandatory
- Familiarity with automation frameworks such as Selenium or Cypress is mandatory
- Strong programming proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or Python is mandatory
- Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOp
- Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps is mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
