We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team and drive excellence in financial management. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month‑end closing processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or PeopleSoft.
  • Prepare and interpret financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Conduct detailed bank reconciliations and accounts payable/receivable processing to maintain precise financial records.
  • Perform regulatory reporting and ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes‑Oxley Act) compliance standards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to guide organizational decision‑making.
  • Oversee accounts payable and payroll functions while ensuring timely processing of transactions.
  • Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations related to financial statements and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on technical accounting issues such as LIHTC (Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law compliance, governmental accounting standards, and non‑profit accounting practices.
  • Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices in accounting procedures and fostering professional development.

Experience

  • Proven experience in corporate or public accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, and balance sheet management.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Experience working within non‑profit organizations or government agencies is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare clear reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with effective communication skills for mentoring team members and collaborating across departments.
  • Prior exposure to technical accounting areas including Wills, Trusts & Estate Law or private equity is a plus but not required.

Compensation

  • Pay: $80,000 – $100,000 per year
