Data Engineer (Alternant)
Safran
About the role
About Safran
Safran is an international high-tech group operating in the fields of aeronautics (propulsion, equipment and interiors), space and defense. Its mission: to contribute sustainably to a safer world, where air transport becomes ever more environmentally friendly, comfortable, and accessible. With operations on all continents, the Group employs 100,000 people for a turnover of 27.3 billion euros in 2024, and holds, alone or in partnership, world or European leading positions in its markets.
Safran is the 2nd company in the aeronautics and defense sector in the TIME magazine's "World's Best Companies 2024" ranking.
Safran Aircraft Engines designs, produces, and markets, alone or in cooperation, civil and military aeronautical engines at the highest levels of performance, reliability, and environmental respect. The company is notably, through CFM International*, the world leader in commercial short- and medium-haul aircraft propulsion.
- CFM International is a 50/50 joint company of Safran Aircraft Engines and GE Aerospace.
Because we are convinced that every talent counts, we value and encourage applications from people with disabilities for our job opportunities.
Are you ready to take off with us? Join the Safran Aircraft Engines team: a world leader in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of civil and military aircraft engines. Together, we are shaping a sustainable future for aviation and enabling our customers to fly safely.
Within the Military Engines Division of Safran Aircraft Engines and a dynamic, human-sized facility in the city center of Bordeaux, the Product Support Directorate ensures in-service support for French and export forces.
The TP400 engines power the A400M aircraft and are entering a phase of technical maturation. Numerous actions are underway to optimize support and improve engine availability. In partnership with the Europrop International (EPI) consortium, our goal is to keep our customers flying while enabling Safran Aircraft Engines to meet its contractual commitments.
The Fleet Data and Technical Support TP400 (FDTS) sector accomplishes several missions:
- Collect, compile, and analyze flight data from the in-service fleet (availability, reliability)
- Analyze feedback from maintenance/repair workshops
- Propose improvements to the product and its support system.
What we will accomplish together:
As a Data Engineer (Apprentice) integrated into the FDTS sector, you will play a key role in restructuring the operational data flows of the TP400 fleet.
Data summaries feed various departments (removal projections, availability, reliability, workshop load & capacity...). In this constrained environment, it is often difficult to obtain reliable information from a single source. One of the team's essential missions is to compile different sources of information to reconstruct a reliable picture of the fleet's situation.
To improve the quality of the analyses produced by the team, you will actively participate in the data processing transformation project. This project aims to rationalize source data through 4 tables: aging, configuration, events, and "findings/constats".
Your activities will focus on:
- Defining a data source reliability process (data quality)
- Defining an information enrichment process (data cross-referencing)
- Implementing data pipelines (process automation)
- Defining and implementing analysis processes using the previously created tables (statistical & technical analyses).
The profile we are looking for
This position is for you if:
- You are a student in an engineering school or equivalent, pursuing a Bac +5 degree.
- You possess the following skills: coding, data analysis.
- You master the following tools: Python, Pandas.
- You are curious, rigorous, and structured.
- You master English (minimum B2 level).
- You are ready to join our Bordeaux (33) site, located in the Bastide district on the banks of the Garonne (right bank).
Knowledge of the aeronautical/industrial environment is a plus.
