About the Role
Oper Axis is hiring an Associate Generative AI Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity with one of our enterprise clients in the Philadelphia area. This is a hands‑on role for a junior engineer who is excited about generative AI and is also comfortable supporting and modernizing legacy business applications.
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing algorithms for generative AI models using deep learning techniques.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate generative AI solutions into existing business workflows.
- Optimizing and fine-tuning models for performance and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with generative AI implementations.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
- Delivery and ongoing maintenance of mission‑critical Microsoft Access applications used across the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
Required Skills
- 1 to 2 years of work experience in AI engineering, software development, or a closely related field.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Access (versions 2003, 2007, 2010).
- Solid understanding of Visual Basic and SQL Server.
- 2+ years of related software development experience (internships and academic projects can count toward this if relevant).
- Proven experience delivering and maintaining mission‑critical Microsoft Access solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Hands‑on exposure to large language models, prompt engineering, or generative AI frameworks (Lang Chain, OpenAI API, Hugging Face).
- Experience with Python for AI/ML workflows.
- Background in insurance, mortgage, or financial services environments.
Pay range and compensation package
Contract to Hire structure (6 to 12 months on contract; conversion to full-time at the end client expected for the right performer). Hybrid; 2 days onsite per week in Ardmore PA. One in-person interview required as part of the hiring process.
