About the role
Overview
We are seeking a full-time Aviation Technical Writer for our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for researching and writing pilot's guides and quick reference guides.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a field relevant to performing the essential functions of this job description or a minimum of 2 years' experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description.
- Must possess experience in the aviation industry and working with and/or using avionics
- Must demonstrate proficiency using word processing tools such as Microsoft Word
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Desirable Qualifications
- Pilot's license or familiarity with aviation phraseology and flight operations procedures
- Proficiency in effectively using Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop
Responsibilities
Essential functions
- Create electronic documents using word processing and desktop publishing tools
- Communicate with the Design Engineers in areas that relate to the product specifications and product development
- Facilitate the rework of mechanical drawings and screen captures
