Join our IT team as an Azure Cloud Engineer in Plattekloof, where you’ll design, implement and maintain our Microsoft Azure and M365 environments in support of our cloud-first strategy.

This role is ideal for a hands-on technical expert who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex cloud challenges, and ensures optimal performance, security and availability across all cloud services.

What You’ll Do

• Design, deploy and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure including virtual machines, networking, storage and platform services
• Administer and optimise the Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID and Intune
• Monitor performance, cost and security of Azure and M365 services using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Sentinel
• Implement and manage hybrid cloud connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure (VPN, ExpressRoute, Azure Arc)
• Manage, monitor and verify backups for Azure and M365 services to ensure recoverability
• Manage identity, access and security policies through Entra ID, Conditional Access and Azure RBAC
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)
• Maintain and document cloud architecture, standards and procedures
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions using Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery
• Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, Azure subscription governance and cost optimisation
• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting and incident management processes for all cloud services
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance in line with business needs and change management principles
• Manage cloud infrastructure support requests and user administration within SLA
• Deliver cloud migration and modernisation projects in collaboration with the Head of Infrastructure and IT Project Manager
• Review cloud costs, licensing, monitoring, security posture and performance regularly to identify improvements and optimisation opportunities
• Collect and report on cloud metrics, KPIs and incidents, ensuring documentation and registers are always up to date

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field
• Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305) highly desirable
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in cloud engineering with strong Azure and M365 administration experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, networking, storage and security)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune)
• Experience with hybrid cloud integration (Azure Arc, VPN, ExpressRoute)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)
• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
• Knowledge of containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Apps)
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Sentinel
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and support after-hours maintenance or incident response when required
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
