About the role
About RockFi
RockFi is a modern Family Office that brings private wealth management into the 21st century. We combine the experience of former private bankers with the power of the latest technologies to offer tailored support.
Driven by three founders with complementary expertise (Pierre, CEO ex-McKinsey; Marie, COO ex-Artefact & Beanstock; Maxime, CTO first Founding Engineer at Qonto), RockFi has raised €18M in Series A led by Partech with the participation of Varsity.
We target the affluent/affluent+ segment (€250k-€5M), a €1.5 trillion market in France.
The Role
As a Backend Engineer, your role will be to create refined user experiences in collaboration with the Product and Frontend teams, highly scalable and robust APIs, all to help create the new private wealth management of tomorrow, serving RockFi network's independent wealth managers and their clients. The position can be based in Paris or Lyon.
Your Missions
As a Backend Engineer joining us among the first, you will be part of a team of a few highly qualified engineers from other scale-ups like Qonto. You will work closely with the product team to shape our solutions. You will also participate in directing our technical choices and RockFi's technological approach in line with our vision. Our primary goal is to build reliable and robust tools.
Profile
As a close-knit team, we are all versatile and constantly take on new challenges. On the coding side, we are looking for experienced individuals capable of identifying and solving problems. We primarily use TypeScript and Python to develop scalable systems to continuously progress on solid foundations. We do not require in-depth knowledge of all the tools we use, but we expect strong engineering skills and proven experience in designing scalable infrastructures and backend solutions.
You will get along well with the team if:
- You have 3 years or more of experience in a startup environment focused on software engineering;
- You have experience in the development and architecture of complex applications requiring a micro-services layer;
- You are familiar with Domain-Driven Design concepts;
- You have rigor, automation, and strong ownership;
- You quickly grasp business understanding and can collaborate with product and finance teams;
- You are able to explore possible solutions for new features with the Product and Backend teams;
- You have the desire to build things from scratch.
Tech Stack
Our products cover several functional areas:
- Client portfolio management and reporting
- Automation of compliance and regulatory monitoring
- Development of assistants for advisors
- Extraction and normalization of financial supplier flows
This diversity implies a broad and scalable stack, and requires profiles capable of learning quickly and navigating between different families of technical problems. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the technologies we use:
- React, Next.js, Typescript, Nest.js for front and back
- Typescript, Python for our core stack and our ledger
- AWS (EKS, S3, RDS, etc.) — Paris region 🇫🇷
- Grafana, OpenTelemetry for observability
- Snowflake, dbt, Airbyte, Dagster for data
Interview Process
- Meeting with Maxime, Co-Founder & CTO - 45/60min
- Case study & debrief technical call (the RockFi case study is not a coding exercise per se, but rather a design scenario).
- Fit interview with the team - 45min
- Meeting with the Co-Founders (Marie, COO & Pierre, CEO): ~1h
- Reference checks
