Senior Big Data / Machine Learning Engineer

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Big Data / Machine Learning Engineer to join our team in McLean, VA. This hybrid role is ideal for a highly skilled professional with a strong background in data engineering and machine learning, capable of designing and implementing scalable data solutions. You will play a key role in building and optimizing data pipelines, developing machine learning models, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable big data pipelines and architectures
• Develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models in production environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers
• Process and analyze large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across systems
• Optimize performance and scalability of data processing systems
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in big data and ML

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in big data engineering and/or machine learning
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with MLOps and model deployment pipelines
• Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
