The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our growing IT Department as a Cloud and AI Engineer. In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving artificial intelligence and cloud innovation across the organization. You will design, build, and integrate cutting-edge AI solutions using industry-leading platforms, working cross-functionally to modernize how Peninsula operates and delivers value. Job Purpose
The Cloud and AI Engineer will be responsible for architecting, developing, and deploying AI-powered solutions and cloud integrations across the business. The successful candidate will bring deep hands-on experience with modern AI platforms and the drive to independently identify opportunities where technology can transform our operations. This role requires both technical depth and the entrepreneurial mindset to move ideas from concept to production.
What You’ll Be Doing • Manage, operate, and optimize cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to ensure high availability, performance, and cost efficiency • Design and implement cloud architecture patterns including networking, security, identity, storage, and compute across multi-cloud environments • Administer and maintain cloud governance frameworks: policies, tagging standards, cost management, and access controls across all three cloud platforms • Monitor infrastructure health, respond to incidents, and lead root cause analysis to drive continuous reliability improvements • Plan and execute cloud migrations, optimizations, and decommissioning activities in alignment with business priorities • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions using Microsoft AI Foundry, OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude • Build integrations across multiple enterprise systems, APIs, and data sources to enable seamless AI-powered workflows and automation • Develop prompt engineering strategies, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and fine-tuning approaches to deliver high-quality AI outcomes • Proactively identify and drive opportunities to apply AI and cloud automation to business challenges across departments • Evaluate and recommend new AI tools, models, and cloud-native services aligned with organizational strategy and risk appetite • Act as an internal AI and cloud champion through educating teams, documenting architectures, and enabling broader adoption of emerging technologies
Education & Experience • University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field • Hands-on experience with two or more of: Microsoft AI Foundry, OpenAI (GPT-4 / API), Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude • Experience designing and building integrations across multiple systems using REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware platforms • Proficiency with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure (including Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI Service) • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) an asset • Familiarity with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages for AI application development • Understanding of LLM concepts: prompt engineering, embeddings, vector databases, and RAG pipelines • Knowledge of data security and responsible AI practices • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory environments
