About the Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Cloud Architecture & Engineering professional to join our technical team on a contract basis. With our principal architect transitioning off, we need someone who can balance technical hands-on engineering (60%) with architectural leadership (40%) to drive infrastructure modernization, support current operations, and design solutions for strategic cloud initiatives. This is a high-impact role where you'll architect new deployments and guide the team through critical cloud transformations.

Role Overview

60% Engineering | 40% Architecture

You'll split your time between hands-on cloud engineering work and providing architectural guidance on new projects and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure, managing user access, performance, and reliability
• Lead ongoing migration of legacy systems to Office 365, modernizing collaboration and productivity tools
• Stand up new Azure applications and services aligned with business requirements
• Perform general infrastructure maintenance including VLAN configuration, Azure subscriptions, and network management
• Architect and execute the conversion of regionalized on-premise data centers to Azure cloud infrastructure
• Design and implement solutions for new projects, including office infrastructure buildouts
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team on Azure best practices and infrastructure design

Required Experience

• 10+ years of infrastructure and cloud engineering experience
• 5-6+ years of hands-on Azure cloud platform experience
• Strong Windows Server administration background
• Proficiency with on-premise networking and server administration
• Experience with Cisco data center networking and architecture
• Demonstrated ability to architect and build solutions from scratch
• PowerShell scripting experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with Terraform
• Azure DevOps (ADO) and Terraform Cloud experience
• Experience with Terraform clone and import operations
• Advanced Cisco network stack knowledge
• Background transitioning from systems administration to cloud engineering

Technical Environment

• Azure cloud infrastructure (primary platform)
• Windows Server environments
• Cisco data center architecture
• Core infrastructure and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions
