Senior Application Developer (Cloud, DevOps & Data Engineering Focus)

About

We are seeking a Lead Application Engineer engineer responsible for designing, developing, and operating secure, scalable, cloud-native applications in AWS (including GovCloud). Focuses on backend services, data engineering pipelines, and DevSecOps automation to support mission-critical federal systems.

Position Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python-based backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL) for scalable applications
• Build and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform (S3, API Gateway, RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch)
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and implement containerization (Docker, ECS/EKS/Fargate)
• Design and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using AWS Glue, Airflow, PySpark, and SQL
• Implement monitoring, logging, and operational support for production systems
• Ensure compliance with federal security standards (NIST, FISMA) and support ATO processes
• Develop automated tests and support performance optimization
• Collaborate in Agile teams and produce technical documentation

Position Requirements

• Strong experience in AWS cloud services and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data engineering frameworks (Glue, Airflow, PySpark)
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Argo CD) and containerization
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure coding in federal environments
• Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Splunk)
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and documentation practices
• Ability to support production systems and on-call operations
