Cloud Engineer, GCP and Kubernetes w IaC: Terraform

On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for a Cloud Engineer, GCP and Kubernetes w IaC: Terraform for a 6‑month role. This position is a hybrid position with 1 day onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

The project involves modernizing infrastructure management by migrating Google Cloud resources from a legacy pipeline to Terraform. This initiative aims to standardize the Infrastructure-as-Code approach, enhance automation, and improve scalability.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership/leadership of enterprise cloud products or complex parts of larger products
• Design, implement, and refactor code
• Participate in design discussions focused on scalability and best practices
• Ensure software and applications meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements
• Collaborate with lead engineers and architects to design solutions and estimate tasks
• Design strategies and tools for deploying, monitoring, and administering Cloud applications
• Participate in planning, retrospective sessions, and daily stand-ups

Mandatory Skills

• 4+ years’ advanced experience with IaC: Terraform and building reusable modules
• 8+ years of relevant experience as a cloud engineer, software engineer, or systems engineer
• 3+ years with GCP and Kubernetes networking model
• 5+ years’ proven experience in cloud development with domain expertise in cloud platform features
• Experience with designing scalable, enterprise‑level software systems

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Working knowledge of the Argo Suite and HashiCorp Vault/ExternalSecret Operator
• Experience with OPA Gatekeeper
• Knowledge of VPC‑SC in GCP and other security control mechanisms
• Experience in delivering enterprise systems and collaborating across multiple teams
• Experience with migration projects

Assignment Details

• Length: 6‑month contract position with the possibility of extension and conversion to full‑time employment
• Start Date: ASAP
• Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (hybrid role requiring 1 day per week in the office)
