About the role
Position Overview
The selected candidate will serve as a Cloud Infrastructure Architect supporting the modernization of enterprise development environments through the adoption of cloud-native technologies. This role focuses on designing and implementing scalable, secure, and flexible cloud architectures that integrate with existing systems while enabling future capabilities, including advanced analytics and AI-driven development.
The candidate will lead efforts to transition legacy infrastructure to cloud-based solutions using a strategic, incremental approach, ensuring mission continuity while improving performance, scalability, and usability.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Strategy
- Develop and lead cloud architecture strategies, including technical roadmaps and reusable design patterns
- Design scalable and secure cloud-native solutions aligned with mission requirements
- Establish standardized templates and shared services to enable efficient adoption across teams
Infrastructure Modernization
- Architect solutions to transition legacy systems to cloud environments using phased migration approaches
- Develop integration patterns between on-premise systems and cloud-native services
- Ensure solutions maintain security, compliance, and operational integrity while improving performance
Assessment & Planning
- Conduct technical assessments of existing infrastructure and services
- Document system dependencies and evaluate modernization priorities
- Develop prioritization frameworks based on mission impact, system lifecycle, cost, and user needs
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, and external partners to design and validate solutions
- Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
- Support alignment between development, security, and operations teams
Workflow & Environment Design
- Design modern development environments and workflows to improve usability and efficiency
- Support implementation of unified access solutions and scalable data architectures
- Enhance developer experience within secure and constrained environments
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (or additional experience in lieu of degree)
- Demonstrated experience in cloud architecture and systems engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments, including services such as: Compute and serverless technologies, Networking and DNS, API management, Monitoring and logging, Object storage solutions
- Experience leading infrastructure modernization efforts using incremental migration strategies
- Familiarity with cloud security and compliance processes (e.g., authorization and accreditation frameworks)
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, networking, and system integration
- Experience working with stakeholders to translate technical requirements into architectural solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
- Experience supporting secure or restricted computing environments
- Familiarity with development environments supporting cyber or network operations
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and resource management practices
- Background in developer platform engineering or internal tooling environments
