Software Developer – Senior(Cloud SME)

About the Role

The resource will function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for:

• Designing and enabling large‑scale government cloud platforms
• Supporting multi‑cloud environments (Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, GCP)
• Establishing secure, standardized, and reusable cloud patterns
• Supporting automation, provisioning, and infrastructure delivery

Cloud Platform Design & Enablement (Primary Focus – 50%)

• Design and enable cloud environments for government‑scale workloads
• Work across multiple public clouds, not just one
• Ensure environments match the scale, compliance, and complexity of Ontario government or BPS (Broader Public Sector) systems
• Define how cloud services should be structured, deployed, and managed

Security Architecture

• Design and configure advanced cloud security controls
• Secure both existing cloud environments and new cloud providers
• Align security with government standards and compliance requirements
• Work closely with security teams and vendors

Cloud Automation & Provisioning

• Create and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) and provisioning pipelines
• Build reusable deployment patterns (templates, modules, standards)
• Support automated provisioning for:
  • Infrastructure
  • Data collection
  • Reporting

Incident Support & Vendor Coordination (25%)

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud incidents across:
  • Azure
  • AWS
  • IBM
  • Oracle
  • Google Cloud
• Work directly with cloud vendors to resolve escalated issues
• Support production environments with high availability expectations

Stakeholder Communication (25%)

• Work directly with:
  • Government clients
  • Technical teams
  • Security teams
  • Vendors
• Explain complex cloud topics in a way non‑technical stakeholders can understand
• Document processes, decisions, and operational knowledge
• Negotiate solutions and resolve operational blockers
