About the role
As Commercial Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary commercial team to support the sales apparatus within the framework of our Growing Together initiative. Your team will consist of specialists in sustainability, technical solutions, data, and marketing, and you will ensure their commercial contribution has maximum impact for the Benelux organization. You will also oversee all activities taking place in the Benelux Experience Centre to connect with our customers and colleagues from the overall Benelux organization. Additionally, you will serve as a supportive right-hand to the Marketing & Sales Director Benelux from the Oosterhout location regarding commercial and operational (customer) matters.
What will you do?
Lead the multidisciplinary commercial team:
- Direct the team's deployment in sustainability, technical solutions, data, and marketing expertise, with the goal of optimally supporting the central sales team in customer journeys and propositions;
- Act as a connecting link between Sales and your team.
Provide substantive support and advice to the Marketing & Sales Director Benelux, including on:
- Commercial analyses and scenarios;
- Customer and proposition strategies;
- Liaising with the various local plants in the Benelux, as well as with our European organization.
Coordinate the Benelux Experience Centre and take the lead on internal and external events, including:
- Developing sales campaigns in collaboration with the team;
- Representing Smurfit Westrock at trade fairs and events.
Prepare (marketing) budgets and monitor commercial costs.
Conduct performance and personal development interviews within your team.

Are you who we're looking for?
- Bachelor/Master level, preferably in a commercial or business administration direction;
- Experience in a commercial support, sales, or comparable role;
- Strong analytical and substantive ability; you can switch between strategic and pragmatic approaches;
- A fully-fledged sparring partner for the Marketing & Sales Director Benelux;
- Strong communication skills, connecting, and organizational sensitivity;
- Affinity with sustainability, technology, data, and marketing within a commercial context;
- Good command of Dutch and English, French is a plus.
