About Company

Our client is a fast-growing Grocery Retail Chain with strong financial resources that is changing the retail industry in Nigeria.

The Company is seeking to hire a highly competent and resourceful Construction Officer with Architectural background and Project Management experience in Space Management and Building Construction, to work closely with its expansion manager to deliver on a couple of construction projects for the new store outlets across several locations in Lagos.

Job Objective

• Ensure on time opening of new stores.
• Ensure the construction of new stores at the lowest possible cost and at the defined level of quality according to the Construction Manual of the company.

In order to stay ahead of competition, it is required to apply the principle of economy to the maximum extent.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve offers of construction companies for new stores and renovations.
• Review and approve invoices of the construction companies.
• Ensure that quality claims are clarified and processed.
• Decide on the cost of parts and materials construction companies are using.
• Reject construction companies if they are not suitable.
• Give advice to the Sales Manager and Expansion Manager in regards to layout options.
• Suggest new potential construction companies to the Expansion Manager.
• Supervise constructions in execution, review compliance with time, budget and quality.
• Suggest updates of the Construction Manual.
• Constant on-site review of maintenance activities.
• Inform the Expansion Manager in due time about serious risks and failures detected in stores and look for the most adequate solutions.

Key Requirements

• Minimum B.Sc. Architecture Qualification.
• 5 years’ work experience as an in-house trained Architect and Project Manager on a Construction site, with hands‑on experience with project costing and construction management.
• Knowledge of relevant design policies, international specifications, building regulation and construction details.
• Must be resident within Ijegun, Agege, Ago Palace, Festac etc mainland axis.

Specialized Knowledge and Abilities

• To think methodically, with Project management skills.
• Exceptional design and conceptual skills, for Retail Architectural Projects.

Computer Literacy & Software Demands/Proficiency

• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Word processing Microsoft Office.
• Project Management MS Project.
