Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist

Position Overview:

RCIS, a division of Zurich North America, is looking for a talented Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist to join our Crop Analytics team. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your analytical skills in a dynamic and impactful area of crop insurance. The role will offer a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both remote and in-office collaboration.

In this position, you will contribute to significant projects that directly influence our crop insurance offerings and profitability. Your expertise will be essential in building and enhancing models that are critical to our business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and enhance models specifically for the crop insurance sector.
• Utilize diverse internal and external data sources, including RMA and NOAA, to inform your analyses.
• Perform comprehensive modeling and analysis of crop products related to RMA pricing and yield expectations.
• Update profitability models at the county and crop levels to guide our strategic decisions.
• Document, run, and assess premium estimate models for accuracy and reliability.
• Assist in maintaining and improving fund designation models.
• Conduct scenario modeling on various RMA products to evaluate their impact on profitability.
• Engage in project work by analyzing historical data and trends at the state and county plan levels.

Qualifications:

For Data Scientist Analyst:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics with 2+ years of relevant experience; or
• High School Diploma/Equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience; or
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with data transformation techniques including exact and probabilistic matching, fuzzy matching, text mining, and data reduction.

For Senior Data Scientist Analyst:

• High School Diploma/Equivalent with 7+ years of experience; or
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience; or
• Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience; or
• Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience; or
• PhD with any experience in data transformation for business analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of crop insurance and its technical aspects.
• Understanding of how Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) products function and their pricing models.
• Proficiency in extracting data from relational databases.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical techniques applicable to business strategies.
• Ability to craft actionable solutions to complex business challenges.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Your compensation at Zurich is determined by your role, location, skills, and experience, and may include bonuses and merit increases. We encourage applicants whose expectations may vary, as your unique background is important to us.

The combined salary range for this position is $87,200 - $188,700. The proposed salary for the Data Scientist Analyst is $87,200 - $142,700 with a short-term incentive bonus eligibility of 10%. For the Senior Data Scientist Analyst, the salary range is $115,200 - $188,700 with a short-term incentive bonus eligibility of 15%.
