About Us

The Business Insights team at Tagesspiegel supports the publishing house and editorial team with meaningful reports and precise analyses – with the goal of enabling informed decisions based on data and accompanying the leading medium from the capital on its way into the digital future.

With our team, we cover the entire data value chain – from tracking in web and app, through data processing, to the use of data for reports, ad-hoc analyses, CRM, and data science applications.

Your Role

As a Data Engineer (m/f/d), you are an essential part of our growing team and are entrusted with the following tasks:

  • ETL Processes: You develop, test, and optimize data pipelines using Airflow and Python to provide a reliable basis for internal applications from reporting and CRM to ML and AI applications.
  • Connecting Data Sources: You connect data sources to our DWH (BigQuery) and automate data transformation.
  • DWH Management: You optimize data models and structures and enable efficient processing and provision of data.
  • Data Operations: You analyze requirements for data-related projects and find optimal solutions for implementation.
  • Data Quality & Consistency: You design solutions for continuous optimization of the data infrastructure to ensure data quality and guarantee consistent and reliable data.
  • Data Availability: You ensure the stability of data processing processes and monitor data availability to ensure maximum quality of downstream applications.
  • Stakeholder Management: You gather requirements from business departments, coordinate them, and communicate progress, challenges, and results.

What You Bring

  • Relevant Background: You have a completed technical degree or relevant training.
  • ETL Knowledge: You have experience with Apache Airflow and Python or comparable tools.
  • Database Knowledge: You are familiar with BigQuery and adjacent Google Cloud products.
  • Software Development Processes: You have experience with software development processes & tools (Jira, Git, Docker).
  • Communication Skills: You have the ability to not only understand complex concepts but also to communicate them understandably. For successful collaboration in our predominantly German-speaking environment, German language skills at least B2 level are required (C1 desirable).
