We are seeking a strong technical leader to drive engineering execution and ensure high-quality technical delivery across initiatives. This role will own hands-on development efforts, provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, and uphold engineering standards and best practices.
The ideal candidate will partner closely with Solution Architects to review designs and support key technical decisions, assess the feasibility of backlog items, and contribute actively to sprint planning. This role is also responsible for ensuring adherence to security controls, coding standards, and governance requirements, while coordinating technical deliverables with external vendor teams when applicable.
Responsibilities
- Own the health, reliability, and performance of NCLH’s data platform across development, QA, and production environments.
- Be accountable for production stability, including incident response, escalation leadership, root-cause analysis, and prevention.
- Lead and develop a team of data engineers through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.
- Own data quality as a first-class responsibility, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and freshness of mission-critical datasets.
- Define and enforce engineering standards for data modeling, SQL, dbt, CI/CD, testing, and documentation.
- Lead sprint planning and estimation efforts, and ensure the team meets delivery commitments with predictable, high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with external vendors and ensure accountability for delivery quality, timelines, and compliance with NCLH standards.
- Ensure security, SOX compliance, access controls, and audit readiness for all data platforms.
- Promote continuous improvement in engineering processes, platform performance, and overall reliability.
- Experience working in agile, product-based engineering teams with strong collaboration across cross-functional stakeholders.

Experience
- Minimum 7+ years of experience building modern data warehouse and cloud-based data solutions,
- Minimum of 2 years of people management experience.
- The ideal candidate has strong understanding in data modeling, advanced SQL, and experience working in agile environments.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, Matillion, and other ELT/ETL tools is required, along with the ability to drive high-quality technical delivery.
