Data Engineering Team Lead

Our Financial Services Client is looking for a Data Engineering Team Lead to provide technical leadership and direction for the organization’s data engineering capabilities.

Overview

The role sets engineering standards, designs scalable and secure data architectures, and leads to complex, cross-team data initiatives. While remaining hands-on, you will influence platform strategy, mentor engineers, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, governance, and business priorities.

This is Permanent role, % Remote, Vancouver, BC preferred, open to BC, Ontario candidates.

Must Have

• 8+ years of industry experience in Data Engineering with lead/mentoring/guiding junior resources and related field handling data processing and transformation of disparate datasets, data modelling
• Experience with big data and analytics programming languages such as Python, R, Spark in Databricks
• Experience with batch and real-time processing frameworks (Event Hub, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, etc.)
• Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Semarchy and Event Hub
• Understanding of data storage, mapping, modeling, and real-time data handling
• Strong ability to innovate and adapt to emerging technologies
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities
• Exposure to Dev Sec Ops practices and security-first principles
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline

Nice to Have

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, or Business Administration (MBA)
