Data Scientist - Gaming Analytics & Consumer Insights

Team Red Dog is hiring a Data Scientist – Gaming Analytics & Consumer Insights for our client, a global technology leader and data and analytics innovator. In this role, you will support analytics and reporting initiatives tied to one of the world's most recognized gaming franchises, helping stakeholders make data-driven decisions across consumer products, partnerships, marketing, and franchise engagement initiatives. You'll work with large-scale datasets using SQL, Python, Databricks, Power BI, and cloud-based analytics tools to uncover insights that connect out-of-game experiences with player behavior and business performance. This is a highly collaborative opportunity for a data professional who enjoys combining analytics, storytelling, dashboard development, and business strategy within a fast-paced gaming and entertainment environment.

Top Required Skills (Must Haves): • Strong SQL and data analytics expertise with experience querying, transforming, and analyzing large-scale datasets in environments such as Databricks, SparkSQL, or Azure Data Explorer. • Experience building dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI to deliver actionable business insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Proficiency with Python for analytics, automation, and data modeling, with bonus consideration for PySpark experience. • Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple business initiatives while managing ambiguous projects, ad hoc reporting requests, and stakeholder-driven analytics priorities.

Opportunity Overview: This role supports reporting, analytics, and strategic insights initiatives tied to Minecraft consumer products and “beyond the game” experiences, including licensed merchandise, partnerships, and franchise engagement programs. The team works closely with business stakeholders to evaluate performance, measure ROI, optimize reporting processes, and identify trends that influence both business and player outcomes. This opportunity also provides exposure to broader franchise analytics initiatives, forecasting models, and collaborative data science projects supporting one of the most recognized gaming brands in the world.

How you will make an impact: • Partner with consumer products stakeholders and data engineering teams to deliver reporting and actionable business insights • Analyze data tied to partnerships, marketing initiatives, merchandise performance, and out-of-game franchise experiences • Build, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards and self-service reporting tools • Conduct ad hoc analytics and data investigations supporting cross-functional business decisions • Identify trends, key learnings, and strategic opportunities from large-scale datasets • Support forecasting models, franchise reporting, and estimation initiatives across the business • Collaborate with other data scientists and analytics partners to integrate findings into larger business analyses • Work with complex, high-volume datasets across multiple sources and business functions • Deliver high-quality insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences • Contribute to analytics initiatives within a collaborative, fast-paced gaming environment

The expertise you bring: • 5+ years of experience in data analytics or data science roles • 5+ years of experience with SQL and large-scale data analysis • Experience with SparkSQL, Databricks, or Azure Data Explorer is highly preferred • 2+ years of experience building dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI • Strong Python skills with bonus consideration for PySpark experience • Experience working with ambiguous or evolving datasets and business requirements • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder requests and shifting priorities effectively • Experience supporting cross-functional teams in collaborative environments • Interest in gaming or prior gaming industry experience is a plus • Local to the Seattle area and comfortable with a hybrid onsite schedule
