Our teams in Critical Information Systems and Cybersecurity provide global services and solutions that optimize the performance, resilience, and security of information systems to face technological disruptions and cyber threats.
CortAIx: CortAIx is the Group's new entity dedicated to defense AI innovation. It comprises 3 pillars: CortAIx Labs focuses on research, CortAIx Sensors aims to integrate AI into sensors, and finally CortAIx Factory aims to industrialize advanced AI solutions in the systems of armed forces, aircraft manufacturers, and airports. This initiative reflects Thales's ambition to significantly improve data analysis and decision-making in critical contexts, meeting high requirements for cybersecurity, embeddability, and frugality. CortAIx relies on the expertise of over 600 AI specialists and engages around a hundred doctoral students annually, demonstrating the importance placed on research and innovation. With an extensive network of industrial partners, start-ups, and academic institutions, Thales stands as a leader in AI for critical systems, leading patent filings in this field in Europe. Your Profile
- You hold a Master's degree (Bac +5) from an engineering school or a university program and have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of practical experience in AI, with a solid background in deploying Machine Learning solutions.
- You demonstrate motivation, autonomy, and initiative.
- You have experience implementing solutions embedding Machine Learning, from data collection to production deployment by users.
- You show great availability and very high responsiveness.
- You are recognized for your team spirit and enjoy collaborative work.
- Experience in agile and dynamic project environments is a plus.
- Experience in conducting client workshops and meetings is a plus.
Your Skills
- You understand the business challenges surrounding data exploitation and the deployment of Machine Learning (ML) and/or Deep Learning (DL) solutions, as well as the inherent issues in putting such innovative solutions into production.
- You master statistics, ML, and/or DL.
- You have well-developed listening skills and fluid, clear communication. You are comfortable expressing and convincing others about the objectives, profitability, and problem-solving steps associated with your models, enabling you to persuade stakeholders unfamiliar with ML/DL techniques.
- Proficiency in major frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Solid knowledge of Python (Java, Spark, Scala are a plus).
- Experience using tools like Gitlab and Docker.
- Familiarity with the entire AI model development and deployment lifecycle (MLOps).

Your Missions
By joining the Data Engineering team at CortAIx, Thales's AI innovation center, you will play a crucial role in revolutionizing AI technologies within the industry, facing concrete challenges to assist the armed forces, civil aviation, and aerospace. These challenges include real-time detection and qualification of mobile units, data fusion and situation simulation, detection of intrusion dangers and threats, decision support for operators, and monitoring and control of initiated actions.
Your missions will notably include actively participating in identifying the specific needs of Thales's various branches or its clients through ideation workshops, and proposing tailored algorithmic solutions adapted to each situation.
Your role is not limited to answering a technical question but to imagining and designing innovative solutions that meet the specific challenges and objectives identified during discussions with stakeholders.
As such:
- You will rapidly analyze available data to select the most relevant AI models for the identified challenges, considering the specificities of each use case.
- You will develop, test, and validate data processing algorithms using statistical, mathematical, and machine learning methods, adapted to a variety of technical environments and precise data sensitivity requirements.
- You will play a key role in knowledge dissemination within CortAIx, regularly sharing insights and innovations from your recent projects, thus contributing to collective enrichment.
- You will communicate effectively within Thales and externally to highlight successes, progress made, and lessons learned from various projects, thereby strengthening Thales's reputation as an AI leader in defense and beyond.
Ways of Working
As a member of CortAIx's AI Delivery Team, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering (CTO), you will be at the crossroads of interactions with various Thales Global Business Units (business and technical teams), the AI Lab, and external clients. This strategic position allows you to play a key role in the development and implementation of innovative AI projects, facilitating collaboration between internal technical experts, project leaders, and external partners to effectively address emerging challenges and opportunities. Your work will directly contribute to advancing CortAIx's objectives, leveraging collective expertise to create AI solutions that enhance Thales's capabilities in defense and beyond, while adhering to the principles of security, efficiency, and innovation that are at the core of the company's approach.
