A Day in the Life

The Data Scientist in Marketing Strategy will be pivotal in enhancing Hertz's data-driven marketing approach. This role involves building and optimizing our Marketing Mix Model, analyzing CRM data, and supporting strategic and tactical Loyalty initiatives. The ideal candidate merges analytical expertise with business insight to drive actionable recommendations that maximize marketing budgets and foster customer engagement. Reporting to the Director of Digital Growth, you will actively contribute to our mission.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000

What You'll Do

  • Utilize data science in daily operations to address key challenges and improve current methods with impactful data; work collaboratively with analysts to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Explore datasets, generate insightful questions, and present findings to business leaders for prioritization of further experimentation.

Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM)

  • Develop, validate, and enhance MMM frameworks to assess the effectiveness of marketing channels.
  • Incorporate historical data alongside external factors to predict marketing performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Media and Finance teams to synchronize MMM results with budgeting strategies.

CRM Data Analysis & Enhancement

  • Assist in maintaining data quality, segmentation, and enrichment in CRM systems.
  • Analyze customer lifecycle metrics to inform tailored marketing campaigns.
  • Work alongside the CRM team to enhance targeting and customer retention strategies.

Loyalty Program Analytics

  • Provide analytical insights for the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards, Dollar Express, and Thrifty Blue Chip loyalty programs.
  • Support test evaluations to gauge the impact of loyalty programs and member engagement levels.
  • Deliver actionable insights for both immediate tactical decisions and long-term strategic plans.

Ad-Hoc Analysis & Strategic Projects

  • Address urgent business queries with robust, data-driven recommendations.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives related to marketing technology, customer journey analysis, and attribution modeling.

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience, ideally in Statistics, Marketing Analytics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in data science or operations research.
  • Familiarity with marketing attribution metrics or travel industry data/systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for translating complex analyses into practical insights.
  • Proficiency in time series forecasting, attribution modeling, or optimization strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Technical expertise is essential, including proficiency in SQL, Python/R, Tableau, and Excel.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar.
  • Background in big data mining, analysis, and visualization.
