Overview
Praescient Analytics is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) and national security partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, machine learning, and software engineering, with the ability to design and implement cutting-edge solutions that transform complex datasets into actionable insights. This role requires both analytical acumen and technical creativity to solve real-world intelligence and defense challenges through the power of AI.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement machine learning systems and predictive models to support mission-driven analytics.
- Study and refine data science prototypes, transforming them into production-ready ML solutions.
- Develop and optimize algorithms using supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning techniques.
- Select appropriate datasets, data representation methods, and feature engineering strategies for each problem space.
- Conduct data mining, statistical analysis, and model evaluation to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Perform testing, tuning, and retraining of models to improve predictive accuracy and robustness over time.
- Utilize data-oriented programming languages and visualization tools to translate raw data into meaningful insights.
- Visualize and interpret data findings through dynamic dashboards, reports, and analytic visualizations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and mission stakeholders to integrate AI/ML solutions into operational systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML models or data-driven applications.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or similar data-oriented programming languages.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (eg, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
- Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature selection, and model evaluation techniques.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or custom dashboards.
- Ability to manage and analyze large structured and unstructured datasets.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in a quantitative or technical field.
- Experience supporting DoD, IC, or Federal programs.
- Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, or reinforcement learning techniques.
- Experience developing automated pipelines for ML model training and deployment.
- Understanding of cloud-based ML environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
