The Statistical Office is the competence center and central service provider for data, analyses, and elections within the city administration. We advise the departments of the State Capital Stuttgart on statistical issues and implement data projects with them. These range from data evaluations and analyses using modern statistical methods to data visualization using dashboards and cover the entire spectrum of the city administration.

A Job That Excites You

• You will support and advise departments on data science issues and develop data-based business intelligence solutions for decision support; you will independently be responsible for the conception and model building of data analysis using methods of statistics and machine learning.
• You will realize visualizations, especially using dashboards (with R Shiny) and automated reports (with R Quarto/Markdown).
• You will also advise on data engineering, including how data sources can be identified, connected to different platforms, and automatically prepared.
• You will contribute to building data competence within the city administration and participate in the conception and execution of further training.
• You will conduct your own data analysis projects and publish scientific contributions in the office's own publication series.
• You will also be jointly responsible for all data related to mobility within the Statistical Office.
• Changes or additions to the scope of duties are subject to change.

Your Profile That Fits Us

• Completed scientific university studies (Master's or Diploma) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a comparable field.
• Comprehensive experience in data preparation, modeling, and visualization, methods of inductive statistics, machine learning, and econometrics in a municipal context.
• Proven, confident use of the statistical software R, especially the packages Shiny and Quarto/Markdown.
• Knowledge of SQL, databases, and API interfaces is an advantage.
• Passion for data and numbers, the ability to think outside the box, enjoyment of learning new things, and the ability to familiarize yourself with the subject matter of the diverse specialist areas of the State Capital Stuttgart.
• Very good oral and written communication skills in German (at least level C1) and the ability to understand English-language teaching materials.
