Position Overview

The DevOps Engineer, API Platform and APIOps role is responsible for operating and evolving the enterprise API delivery platform from infrastructure through production. This position focuses on full lifecycle automation, enabling APIs to be deployed, governed, secured, and operated consistently across all environments.

The role emphasizes Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and APIOps practices to eliminate manual deployment steps and ensure repeatable, compliant delivery. The engineer partners closely with API developers, platform teams, security, and operations to ensure APIs meet reliability, performance, and governance standards while supporting rapid product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end to end automation of the API platform delivery pipeline from infrastructure provisioning to production deployment
• Design, implement, and operate CI/CD pipelines for APIs and API gateway configurations using Git based workflows
• Implement Infrastructure as Code for API platform components using Terraform or Bicep
• Enable APIOps practices including automated deployment of API definitions, policies, and configurations
• Manage environment strategies across development, test, and production, including promotion and release controls
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for API platforms to ensure reliability and operational readiness
• Design and support release, rollback, and deployment strategies that minimize risk and downtime
• Implement secrets management and secure pipeline practices using Azure Key Vault
• Enforce API governance and compliance through automated policy enforcement and validation
• Support operational readiness activities including incident response, platform stability, and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with API developers, cloud platform engineers, security teams, and product owners to align delivery and governance expectations

Technical Environment

• API Platform: Azure API Management or equivalent enterprise API gateway
• CI/CD: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Bicep
• APIOps Tooling: Automated API definition and policy deployment pipelines
• Monitoring and Observability: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, platform specific API monitoring
• Secrets Management: Azure Key Vault
• Governance and Compliance: Automated policy enforcement, platform standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Approximately three to five years of hands on experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud operations
• Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines in production environments
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep
• Hands on experience supporting API platforms and API gateway deployments
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, environment segmentation, and deployment strategies
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting for distributed platforms
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on reliability and operational excellence
• Ability to work effectively with distributed and cross functional teams
• Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure API Management or other enterprise API gateways
• Familiarity with APIOps frameworks and API lifecycle automation
• Experience supporting regulated or compliance driven environments
• Microsoft Azure DevOps or Azure Infrastructure certifications

Salary Range

$100,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on technical proficiency and years of relevant experience.
