The Director – AI & Data Science will spearhead the strategic direction and execution of AI and data science initiatives aligning with the Kingdom’s vision for artificial intelligence. The role requires a forward-thinking leader with extensive experience in AI technologies, governance frameworks, and data ethics who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. This executive is responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team, driving innovation while implementing scalable AI solutions that enhance decision-making processes across various sectors in Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of managing large AI projects, developing partnerships with technology providers, and influencing policy at both governmental and organizational levels. The Director must also exhibit superior stakeholder collaboration skills to engage effectively with public and private entities and ensure the vision for AI is translated into actionable strategies while adhering to ethical standards and local policies.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in AI, data science, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience in developing and executing AI strategies that align with the country's objectives and policies.
• Extensive knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, and analytics tools.
• Strong understanding of ethical considerations and governance frameworks in AI implementation.
• Proven ability to build and lead diverse teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Exceptional strategic thinking capabilities with a demonstrated ability to drive organizational change.
• Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, including with government agencies, private sector partners, and academic institutions.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to data and artificial intelligence in Saudi Arabia.
• Demonstrated ability in budget management and resource allocation for technology initiatives.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with fluency in Arabic and English preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategic vision for AI and data science initiatives that support the Saudi local AI Strategy.
• Lead the development and operationalization of AI frameworks, ensuring alignment with local policies and ethical standards.
• Coach and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists and AI specialists, promoting continuous learning and innovation.
• Foster partnerships with private and public sector stakeholders to enhance AI capabilities and knowledge sharing within the ecosystem.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success and operational impact.
• Advocate for the advancement of AI initiatives at local and international forums, representing the organization's interests and objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of AI solutions into existing business processes.
• Oversee budgetary planning for AI projects, ensuring optimal resource allocation and ROI assessment.
• Monitor global AI trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation within the organization.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations while maintaining a strong ethical stance in AI development.
