About the role
We are looking for a seasoned Director of Engineering to lead large, high-performing engineering teams in building secure, scalable, and high-availability financial technology platforms. This leader will drive architecture, execution excellence, regulatory-grade reliability, and engineering culture while partnering closely with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Business stakeholders.
This role requires deep experience in fintech systems such as payments, lending, banking infrastructure, cards, or financial APIs, along with proven leadership in scaling teams and systems in a fast-growing environment.
Key Responsibilities • Engineering Leadership & Strategy • Own engineering strategy aligned with product and business goals. • Lead multiple engineering teams (50–100+ engineers through EMs). • Build and scale distributed engineering org structures. • Drive long-term technology roadmap and platform evolution. 2. FinTech Platform Architecture • Design and oversee high-scale, low-latency, fault-tolerant systems. • Ensure compliance with financial regulations • Build secure payment systems, lending platforms, risk engines, or banking APIs. • Establish best practices for data security, encryption, and fraud prevention. 3. Execution & Delivery Excellence • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across squads. • Drive agile execution with measurable KPIs (velocity, reliability, uptime). • Improve DevOps maturity, CI/CD, and release processes. • Manage technical debt while enabling innovation. 4. Talent & Culture • Hire and mentor Engineering Managers and Staff/Principal Engineers. • Create a strong engineering culture rooted in ownership and accountability. • Drive performance management and succession planning. • Build India engineering as a strategic innovation hub (if applicable). 5. Cross-Functional Partnership • Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams. • Translate regulatory requirements into scalable engineering solutions. • Participate in executive planning and board-level updates. Required Experience • 15+ years of engineering experience with at least 5+ years in senior leadership roles • Strong background in FinTech, Payments, Lending, Core Banking, Cards, or Financial APIs. • Experience building systems handling high transaction volumes. • Proven experience managing 50+ engineers through layered leadership. • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
