About the Role

We are looking for a senior‑level Manager – Instrumentation Design & Engineering to spearhead the instrumentation design and engineering function for large‑scale fertilizer‑plant projects. You will own the technical delivery of instrumentation packages, ensure strict adherence to international standards, and act as the key liaison between process, mechanical, electrical, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle—from concept to start‑up.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership • Lead the complete instrumentation design & engineering scope for greenfield and brownfield fertilizer projects.
• Oversee the development of P&IDs, loop diagrams, datasheets, and specification packages.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, ISA, API, and client‑specific standards.
Project Execution • Drive the preparation of design deliverables, review packages, and obtain client approvals.
• Support procurement activities – vendor short‑listing, technical bid evaluation, and final selection.
• Provide technical guidance during fabrication, installation, FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
Team Management • Mentor and develop a team of instrumentation engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
• Allocate work, monitor progress, and enforce quality standards.
• Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
Cross‑Functional Coordination • Interface daily with process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and project controls teams.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability workshops.
• Resolve technical issues promptly to keep the project on schedule and budget.
Documentation & Compliance • Maintain accurate design records, change logs, and as‑built documentation.
• Conduct hazard & operability (HAZOP) studies and ensure all instrumentation complies with safety regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and client presentations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Requirement Details
Education Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electrical‑Instrumentation Engineering (mandatory). A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ISA, PMP) is a plus.
Industry Experience 10–35 years in instrumentation design for fertilizer, petrochemical, refinery, or other large‑scale industrial EPC projects.
Project Exposure Proven track record in both greenfield and brownfield projects; hands‑on experience with EPC delivery models.
Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of process control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA).
• Proficiency in design tools (AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant, EPLAN).
• Familiarity with IEC 61804, ISA‑5.1, API 610, and related standards.
Leadership Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and deliver results on time and within budget.
Soft Skills Analytical mindset, problem‑solving aptitude, excellent written & verbal communication, and strong documentation discipline.
