About the Role

The Prime Onchain Wallet team is seeking a strong leader to guide an exceptional group of engineers. Your role will focus on empowering institutional clients to confidently navigate on-chain operations. You will define a clear vision, drive execution, and collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and go-to-market teams to simplify complex challenges into reliable, scalable solutions.

The onchain landscape is rapidly evolving. Our Prime Onchain Wallet represents a revolutionary tool for managing on-chain assets and interacting with decentralized applications. We are creating a new operational framework for businesses moving towards on-chain solutions, providing them with the enterprise tools needed to succeed in this paradigm shift.

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering teams to develop critical systems that shape the crypto infrastructure for institutional products.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and leadership to transform vision into actionable plans, breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks.
• Act as a technical authority, supporting architectural decisions and promoting a culture of excellence within the team. Ensure successful deployment of distributed systems at scale.
• Mentor and support your team members to help them grow and positively influence the organization.
• Work closely with our talent acquisition team to identify and recruit exceptional engineering talent that aligns with Coinbase's culture and mission.
• Own and improve processes that ensure engineering quality and adherence to our service level agreements.

What We Seek in You:

• Minimum of 7 years in software engineering.
• At least 1 year of experience in engineering management.
• A balance of strategic vision and practical short-term planning capabilities.
• Experience in designing, delivering, and operating scalable multi-tenanted distributed systems.
• Hands-on capability when necessary, including coding, technical documentation, and involvement in on-call duties.
• A deep commitment to building an open financial system that enhances global connectivity.
• Comfortable using generative AI tools and adapting to advancements in technology for improved efficiency and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working through rapid team growth phases.
• Familiarity with Blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
• Proficiency in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres.
• Experience in building high-reliability financial or security systems.
• Prior engagement with on-chain activities, including working with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and interacting with dApps.

Compensation

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range from $218,025 to $256,500. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility along with various benefits.
