Engineering Manager for Infrastructure & Cloud

Your role in the team

At Wandelbots, we are building an open platform to manage and operate industry shopfloors. To support our platform, we are looking for an Engineering Manager for Infrastructure & Cloud to lead the foundation that powers NOVA and its future evolution.

In this role, you will lead our infrastructure and cloud team, ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and secure. You will guide architectural decisions across cloud and distributed systems, and establish strong practices in observability, automation, and operations.

You will also take ownership of security and compliance topics within engineering. As a representative in our certification efforts (e.g., ISO 27001, TISAX), you will ensure that best practices—such as encryption in transit and at rest, secure networking, and access control—are embedded into our systems and processes.

As an Engineering Manager, you will hire, develop, and support engineers, creating an environment where teams can operate with high autonomy and ownership. You will align your teams with company goals while enabling them to deliver effectively.

Over time, you will expand your scope to include the Nova Developer Experience team, helping improve the tooling and workflows that make programming robots intuitive and efficient.

Our expectations:

Qualifications

• Servant leadership mindset.
• Strong background in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and building platforms.
• Hands-on understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes and Cloud Native.
• Solid knowledge of system design, reliability, and scalability.
• Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Balance speed and quality depending on the use case: prototype demo vs reliable production workload.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Background in robotics, automation, or industrial software.
• Exposure to developer platforms, SDKs, or internal tooling.
• German language skills.

Experience

• Experience managing software engineering teams.
• Experience with security and infrastructure-related best practices (e.g., networking, encryption, access control).
• Experience with ISO 27001, TISAX, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Experience leading multiple teams or expanding organizational scope.
• Experience working with distributed or remote teams.
