Role Overview

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for building and scaling core platform capabilities within Phenom’s AI-driven talent experience platform.

This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive architecture, execution, and team development while delivering scalable and reliable systems used by global enterprise customers.

You will partner closely with Product, Technical Program Management, and cross‑functional engineering teams to deliver high‑impact capabilities that shape the future of talent technology.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Engineering Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives from architecture and design through production deployment.
  • Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with long‑term platform architecture.
  • Drive engineering best practices in code quality, testing, observability, and system reliability.

• Architect Scalable Systems

  • Design and build large‑scale distributed systems that power enterprise SaaS products.
  • Ensure systems are secure, highly available, and scalable to support global enterprise workloads.
  • Lead architecture discussions and guide teams in building microservices‑based cloud‑native systems.

• Build and Develop High‑Performing Teams

  • Hire, mentor, and grow a team of strong software engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance, career coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and engineering excellence.

• Drive Operational Excellence

  • Ensure production systems meet reliability, performance, and scalability targets.
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and long‑term reliability improvements.
  • Improve engineering efficiency through automation, tooling, and development best practices.

• Influence Platform Innovation

  • Contribute to platform‑wide architecture and engineering strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to build reusable services and platform capabilities.
  • Drive initiatives that create long‑term engineering leverage across teams.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering within product development organizations
• 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams
• Strong experience designing and building large‑scale distributed systems
• Strong backend development experience in Java or similar languages
• Experience building microservices‑based architectures
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or similar
• Strong system design and architecture skills
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams in fast‑paced product environments
