The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Engineering Technicians (ET I).

- As an Engineering Technician I, you have the possibility of promoting to an Engineering Technician II within 12-24 months.
- A possibility of promoting to an Engineering Technician III within 18-30 months.

Position Overview
This position is accountable for providing engineering assistance to the Resident Engineer in the inspection and layout of construction projects.
Essential Functions
- Keeps accurate and legible records of inspections, field measurements, and documentation of contracts.
- Keeps the Resident Engineer and Resident Technician, on a project-by-project basis, informed on status and/or problems of contractor’s work.
- Provides accurate and efficient measurements and construction staking as a member of the survey crew.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or job related technical/science curriculum OR two years of engineering experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Valid driver's license.
- Districtwide travel.
- Successful completion of a background screening.
