Airbus Defence and Space GmbH installs and operates physical networks (WLAN and LAN) at Bundeswehr deployment sites abroad and on naval vessels. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Field Service Solution Engineer (m/f/d) for the Bundeswehr Land and Sea Support Media Service. This includes internet access, VoIP telephony, streaming services, and other services.

Your Location

Our location is a stone's throw from Munich, the beautiful state capital of Bavaria. Do you enjoy sports and other outdoor activities? The Alps and Lake Starnberg are reachable within an hour and offer a variety of recreational activities.

Business travel may occupy up to 50 percent of your working time in various countries, presenting an exciting opportunity for curious and practically oriented professionals who want to work in dynamic operational environments. Typically, deployment times at Bundeswehr locations range from 3 days to 1 week. In countries with appropriate risk classifications, transport, accommodation, and catering will be provided by the Bundeswehr. No activities outside of Bundeswehr facilities will be carried out. Appropriate protective measures and medical care will be guaranteed and will comply with Bundeswehr standards. Our technicians will be equipped with high-quality tools and work clothing for overseas deployments.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare, and adapt technical documentation, coordinate and implement technical solutions, create documentation, and participate in highly complex commissioning and service tasks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the customer on-site, maintaining clear and proactive communication to align expectations and resolve issues promptly.
  • Conduct site surveys and discuss all necessary measures with on-site customer representatives.
  • Compile site survey reports and prepare the technical design (new site/exercise/ship).
  • Regularly create reports on the status of field service deployments, encountered challenges, and achieved successes for internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Prepare and execute setup (roll-outs), maintenance, and dismantling with the on-site team (camp/exercise/ship).
  • Evaluate existing procedures with a view to optimizing them to make work easier for employees and thus become more efficient.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Completed degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • Experience in project management, supplier management, and export control.
  • Knowledge in network technology (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), network security, and firewalls (Cisco).
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple roll-out projects in parallel in demanding operational environments.
  • Fluent German and English language skills.
  • Driver's license class B required.
