Job Summary
The Field Solutions Engineer - Public Sector Solutions serves as a technology generalist supporting large clients in the SLED (State, Local, Education) sector. Your mission will be to identify and cultivate opportunities through building robust relationships with clients in conjunction with our sales teams. Expect to consult on areas including data center, edge computing, core infrastructure, cloud solutions, security, and collaboration services, all while understanding how these technologies drive business success. This position is remote, but candidates must reside in California to meet SHI's business needs.
Role Description
- Collaborate with account teams to assess and understand customer data center environments and infrastructure technologies.
- Craft and suggest customized infrastructure solutions aligned with customers' business goals.
- Establish and nurture technical relationships with OEMs and key partners, staying informed on the latest product developments.
- Deliver product training and technical education to our sales team and clients.
- Serve as a trusted IT advisor for clients, working closely with Field Account Executives.
- Oversee the solution practice pipeline, devising strategies for prospective clients and securing new business.
- Identify and explore opportunities in areas such as Data Center, Cloud, Network, Security, Collaboration, and Services.
- Design solutions that meet customer needs and budgets through strategic planning.
- Engage with diverse client stakeholders, including CIOs, IT Directors, and CTOs for comprehensive account management.
- Educate sales teams on technical sales strategies, product education, services, and emerging technology trends.

- Experience with complex Data Center sales scenarios - Intermediate level.
- Expertise in designing data center infrastructures, including hybrid cloud and automation solutions - Intermediate level.
- Strong background in virtualization technologies, including hypervisors and automation - Intermediate level.
- Ability to effectively convey and sell sophisticated technical products by understanding client needs - Intermediate level.
- Familiarity with leading technologies like Dell Technologies, NetApp, HPE, Cisco, and AWS - Intermediate level.
- Experience in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions - Intermediate level.
Other Requirements
- A completed Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to SHI, partner, and customer events is essential.
- Advanced certification in one or more of the following technologies is a plus: Dell Technologies, Cisco, VMware, Azure, AWS, and others.
The estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $160,000 to $220,000, including base and bonus components. Compensation will vary based on experience, skills, and location. Benefits may include medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending options.
