About the role

Basis is redefining the practice of accounting and downstream finance workflows.

We are looking for our first dedicated Finance hire to take ownership of building out our internal function to match the scale and velocity of the business.

This role helps own the full spectrum of internal finance: from finance ops (procurement, treasury management, automations, etc.) to strategic finance (forecasting, compute management, commission planning, board materials, etc.) and beyond.

Who we're looking for

• Builder. You'll be setting up systems and processes rather than inheriting them. You're energized by standing something up for the first time.
• Scar-tissue in a scaling finance function. You have seen what great looks like building out a finance function at a rapidly scaling enterprise-focused business.
• Comfortable across altitude. You can zoom into the detail of closing the books and zoom out to whether we should invest in a new market. Both matter and you don't see one as beneath you.
• Strong analytical foundation. Likely investment banking, consulting, PE/VC, or startup finance background.
• First-principles thinker Many of the problems we solve are net new. There’s no playbook. We want people who can decompose a novel problem, reason from fundamentals rather than pattern match, and design things that compound.
• Cross-functional by default You'll work directly with Sales, Engineering, ML, Legal, and the CEO - and you know the finance function's value is only as good as its relationships with the rest of the business.
• High ownership, low ego. The unglamorous operational work and the high-stakes board prep happen in the same week. You take both seriously.
