Freelance role - Data Center Engineer

Hiring: Datacenter L2 Engineer – Mutterstadt, Germany | Onsite Dispatch / Hands & Feet Support

We are looking for an experienced Datacenter Level 2 Engineer to provide onsite hands & feet support. This role requires engineers who can respond quickly to incidents and provide reliable technical support in a mission‑critical data center environment.

• 24x7 support required

Response Time

• Engineer must be able to reach the site within 2 hours

Role Details

• Position: Datacenter Engineer (L2)
• Experience: 4+ Years
• Work Type: Onsite / Dispatch‑Based Support

Mandatory Requirements

• German and English language proficiency is required
• Engineer must have own transportation and should not rely on public transport for dispatch calls
• Ability to provide 2‑hour onsite response

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, racks, and data center equipment
• Perform rack & stack operations, structured cabling, and cable management
• Troubleshoot issues within the data center infrastructure to minimize downtime
• Monitor network performance, server health, and infrastructure components
• Diagnose and resolve hardware or network problems quickly to maintain service availability
• Check and maintain Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and cooling systems
• Provide hands & feet L2 support for technical teams during troubleshooting and deployments
• Document troubleshooting steps, maintenance activities, and technical procedures

Required Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of data center technologies
• Knowledge of Networking (LAN, WAN, WLAN)
• Experience with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
• Experience with server hardware and operating systems
• Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics

Preferred Certifications

• CCNA / CCNP
• JNCIA or similar networking certifications
