Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d) in Data Science
Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin in der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft
About the role
About
The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association aims to change the medicine of tomorrow through our discoveries today. At our locations in Berlin-Buch, Berlin-Mitte, Heidelberg, and Mannheim, our researchers collaborate across disciplines to decipher the complexity of diseases at a systems level – from molecules and cells to organs and the entire organism. In partnerships with science, clinical practice, and industry, as well as in global networks, we strive to translate biological insights into applications for early detection of health deviations, development of personalized therapies, and ultimately, prevention of diseases. Founded in 1992, the Max Delbrück Center currently inspires and supports a diverse talent pool of around 1,800 people from over 70 countries. We are funded 90% by the federal government and 10% by the state of Berlin.
The Helmholtz Einstein International Berlin Research School in Data Science (HEIBRiDS) invites applications for fully-funded doctoral positions in an excellent, interdisciplinary, and international research environment.
HEIBRiDS projects promote the integration of data science methodology with applications in Molecular Medicine, Materials & Energy, Earth & Environment, Geosciences, and Astronomy, and cover topics in the following areas:
- Machine Learning
- Deep Learning
- Explainable AI
- Large Language Models
- Mathematical Modeling
- Statistical Modeling
- Imaging Data Science
Research is conducted at one of the Helmholtz Centers in the greater Berlin area:
- Helmholtz-Zentrum für Geoforschung (GFZ)
- Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB)
- Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin (MDC)
In collaboration with BIFOLD or one of the Berlin partner universities:
- Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
- Freie Universität Berlin
