About the Role
The Saint-Gobain Data Lab brings together around twenty researchers in mathematics and data science, working across all of the Saint-Gobain Group's activities. It addresses the Group's major digital transformation challenges, tackling a wide range of issues, from improving industrial production to optimizing the supply chain. Our goal is always, beyond cost minimization, to reduce our energy and raw material consumption and our CO2 footprint as much as possible.
Within the Data Lab, the Data & Decision Sciences team specializes in Operations Research (OR) approaches, with the aim of providing innovative and customized solutions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Group's activities and entities to define their needs and lead concrete projects on topics as varied as production, supply chain, and marketing.
- Model all the constraints of the identified problem and propose an algorithm to solve it, in order to support optimal decision-making.
- Communicate effectively with clients to share your analyses and results using interactive visualizations, presentations, documents, or notebooks.
- Integrate the mathematical model into application prototypes and support their industrialization with the business.
- Ensure monitoring of new methods in operations research, optimization, or machine learning, and share them with other members of the Data Lab during our internal seminars, in order to guarantee the scientific quality of the group's methods.
- You will be responsible for the scope, proposals, and management of deadlines and resources for the projects you lead.
- You have good interpersonal skills to lead projects in a collaborative environment and to establish internal contacts within the Saint-Gobain Group (other R&D centers, factories, industrial departments, marketing, etc.) and external (start-ups, meet-ups, OR & data science communities, academic laboratories).
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Mathematics / Statistics with a solid background in Operations Research, or Master's degree (prestigious school or university) in Mathematics / Statistics and 2 to 3 years of experience in Operations Research.
- Broader optimization and data analysis skills are a plus.
