IoT / Embedded Systems Engineer (Contract, Part-Time) — San Diego

We’re looking for an experienced engineer to help transform an existing hardware product into a connected, intelligent device.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can bridge hardware, firmware, and cloud systems owning development from device to backend.

What you’ll work on:

• Integrating and modifying existing electronics
• Building embedded systems (ESP32, STM32, or similar)
• Enabling secure WiFi connectivity + OTA updates
• Real-time monitoring, control, and remote device management
• Supporting backend systems for device communication, data, and user customization
• Helping define overall system architecture

What we’re looking for:

• Strong background in embedded systems + electrical engineering
• Experience building IoT / connected devices end-to-end
• Familiarity with MQTT, HTTP, or similar protocols
• Experience with OTA updates and reliable device communication
• Ability to work with and improve existing hardware systems

Nice to have:

• AWS, Firebase, or other cloud platforms
• Experience with mobile apps or user-facing systems

San Diego preferred (open to local candidates for in-person collaboration)
