Position and tasks description

As part of our growing project team based in Marseille (France), and after a period of training and adaptation to the tools and methods used by the latter, you will be in charge of carrying out studies of the climatic behavior of structures and urban spaces using CFD software and/or related digital tools allowing to apprehend, as much as possible in a coupled way, the multidisciplinary subjects covered (aeraulic, thermal, solar radiation, air quality, etc.) Reporting to the managing director and under the supervision of the senior engineers, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing simulation workflows in accordance with company policies and practices and contributing to the development of novel approaches.
  • Learning and deploying best practices for meshing, solving, and post-processing complex and large-scale CFD simulations.
  • Collaborating with other members of the OPTIFLOW team and potentially with various CPP departments to complete work on time.
  • Preparing high-quality documentation for internal projects and reporting for external studies.
  • Participate in the development of specific models or tool aggregates to improve our services and the quality of responses provided to our clients

As part of the studies, you will be required to communicate directly with client representatives.

Candidate profile

The most important requirements of the role are:

  • Engineering degree, with fluids as a core subject and some experience with CFD
  • Strong desire to be part of a team and contribute to team culture
  • Looking for a career in technical consulting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write and modify analysis code

Desirable requirements for the role:

  • Experience with (or understanding of) consulting engineering
  • Exposure to wind engineering
  • Experience with Commercial CAD software packages
  • Demonstrable experience with advanced MATLAB, Python, and shell scripting
  • Knowledge of OpenFOAM, Fluent, or similar CFD toolsets

Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate be

  • Rigorous and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively as a project key member
  • Creative and able to answer positively to stress during peaks of activity when required
  • Able to manage his own technical and scientific monitoring (software, numerical tools, scientific publications)
  • Respectful of the company culture and eager to make a positive contribution to it
  • An European citizenship or a valid EU working-permit for people outside the EU
  • Fluent in English - level B2 (advanced) or C1 (autonomous) - French will be appreciated but not mandatory
