About the role
Role Purpose
The Junior Simulator Engineer will support the development, operation, and continuous improvement of Hyundai Motor Group Racing’s driver-in-the-loop (DIL) simulation capabilities. The role focuses on ensuring accurate and reliable simulation environments to aid vehicle development, performance optimization, and operating the DiL session.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the configuration, operation, and maintenance of simulation systems, including AVL VSM Race
- Assist in the daily operation and technical upkeep of Dynisma driving simulators
- Prepare, execute, and monitor simulation sessions for vehicle dynamics development and correlation activities
- Develop and modify simulation models using Matlab/Simulink
- Utilize and manage simulation tools such as PTWinSim, RaceCon, and SimHub
- Collaborate with vehicle dynamics, controls, and performance engineers to ensure simulation accuracy and relevance
- Process and analyze simulation data, providing clear feedback to engineering teams
- Support correlation between simulation and real-world test data
- Maintain documentation of simulation configurations, processes, and results
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues within the simulator environment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline
- Fundamental understanding of vehicle dynamics and motorsport engineering principles
- Experience or academic exposure to: Matlab/Simulink
- Experience or academic exposure to: At least one of: PTWinSim, RaceCon, or SimHub
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-performance engineering environment
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to AVL VSM Race or similar vehicle simulation platforms
- Familiarity with Dynisma or other DIL simulator systems
- Knowledge of real-time simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL/DIL) environments
- Experience with graphical simulation tools such as rFpro
- Basic scripting or programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Python)
- Interest or experience in motorsport or high-performance vehicle development
