Lead AI Engineer - Deep Learning & Computer Vision

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead AI Engineer to spearhead our advanced machine learning initiatives. This is a fully remote, permanent position where you will drive the development and deployment of cutting‑edge artificial intelligence solutions, with a strong emphasis on deep learning and computer vision technologies. You will be instrumental in architecting robust AI models, optimizing their performance, and integrating them into our product ecosystem. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement sophisticated deep learning models for various AI applications, particularly in computer vision (e.g., object detection, image segmentation, facial recognition).
• Lead the entire model lifecycle, from data preprocessing and feature engineering to training, validation, and deployment.
• Optimize model performance for speed, accuracy, and efficiency, considering real‑world constraints.
• Conduct research into new AI algorithms, techniques, and frameworks to stay at the forefront of the field.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior AI engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
• Develop and maintain scalable and robust ML pipelines and infrastructure.
• Evaluate and select appropriate tools, libraries, and platforms for AI development and deployment.
• Stay updated with the latest research papers, industry trends, and best practices in AI, machine learning, and deep learning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to AI model performance and deployment.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience developing and deploying production‑level AI systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras (mandatory).
• Proven experience with computer vision libraries like OpenCV and extensive knowledge of algorithms such as CNNs, RNNs, GANs, and Transformers (essential).
• Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and linear algebra.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for AI workloads; familiarity with MLOps practices (highly advantageous).
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and strong communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
