Lead AI/Machine Learning Engineer

Our client is seeking a visionary and highly skilled Lead AI/Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead their advanced AI initiatives. This role is critical in driving the research, development, and deployment of cutting-edge machine learning models and algorithms that will shape the future of our products and services. You will lead a team of talented engineers and data scientists, fostering an environment of innovation and technical excellence. Responsibilities include defining AI/ML strategies, designing robust ML pipelines, overseeing model training and validation, and ensuring the seamless integration of AI solutions into production systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various ML techniques (e.g., deep learning, NLP, reinforcement learning) and a strong command of programming languages like Python and associated ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for scalable ML deployments is essential. You will collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI can deliver significant value. This role requires exceptional leadership, mentorship capabilities, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. A proven track record of successfully delivering impactful AI/ML projects from conception to production is a must. This role is based in Kaduna, Kaduna, NG , with a strong emphasis on remote collaboration tools to foster seamless teamwork and project execution.

Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models and solutions. Define AI/ML research roadmap and strategic initiatives. Mentor and guide a team of AI/ML engineers and data scientists. Develop and optimize ML pipelines for data processing, training, and inference. Conduct rigorous model evaluation, validation, and A/B testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement AI-driven features. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML research and technologies. Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of deployed AI systems. Communicate complex technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Contribute to the company's intellectual property through research and innovation. Qualifications: Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. 8+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a significant portion in a leadership role. Proven expertise in developing and deploying production-level ML models using Python and relevant frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn). Strong understanding of deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or other specialized AI fields. Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and algorithmic thinking skills. Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills. Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus. Publications in top-tier AI conferences or journals are highly regarded.
