Data Science plays a vital role in Coinbase's product development and decision-making processes. We collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to shape the roadmap and gain deeper insights into user behavior. Through advanced analytics, experimentation, and modeling, we derive actionable insights that significantly influence our bottom line.

In the realm of customer support, the stakes are high—customer assets depend on timely and effective resolutions. This role focuses on identifying the root causes of support interactions, quantifying user friction that does not lead to support contact, and collaborating with product teams to rectify quality issues. You will develop causal and AI models to evaluate negative product experiences across the Coinbase suite.

Your responsibilities will include: • Conducting comprehensive analyses on complex business challenges, leading to actionable insights and recommendations that inform decision-making. • Taking ownership of a wide array of data and metrics, from core logging to effective data visualizations. • Leading code reviews, providing expertise in SQL and Python, and establishing well-maintained ETL processes. • Upholding rigorous statistical standards within your team, ensuring that we execute experiments and causal analyses that instill confidence among stakeholders.

What we look for in you: • A BA/BS in a quantitative field (e.g., Math, Stats, Physics, or Computer Science) with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a quantitative field with 3+ years of relevant experience. • Proven track record in driving impactful data science projects that navigate ambiguous problems. • Capacity to influence stakeholders by translating data insights into compelling narratives. • Practical experience applying complex modeling frameworks to address real-world business challenges. • Professional proficiency in SQL and Python. • Experience with digital products within iterative development environments. • Exemplification of our core values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution. • Ability to effectively incorporate generative AI tools and copilots in daily work, adapting to new developments and applying human-in-the-loop practices for optimal outcomes.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position is between $180,370 and $212,200 USD. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, along with benefits like medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
