Lead Software Engineer (IC4)

Role Summary

Oracle Health Platform Engineering is at the forefront of creating and managing shared services that enable secure and scalable product delivery. As an AI-focused engineering team, we leverage innovative AI techniques to streamline our design and delivery processes while upholding exceptional standards of security, accuracy, and operability.

We are on the lookout for a Lead Software Engineer (IC4) who will spearhead the design and implementation of complicated platform capabilities, enhance platform reliability and security, and mentor fellow engineers through in-depth technical contributions and leadership.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of sophisticated platform services and components.
• Own significant technical decisions; facilitate design reviews to ensure solutions abide by security, scalability, performance, and operability criteria.
• Establish and enhance engineering standards across services, focusing on API consistency, testing strategies, and deployment patterns.
• Guide engineers through design direction, code reviews, and technical mentoring.
• Drive initiatives for reliability improvements by establishing SLOs/SLIs, planning for capacity and performance, analyzing incidents, and promoting automation.
• Collaborate with Security/Compliance teams to ensure secure-by-design solutions and audit preparedness.
• Work across departments to align project roadmaps and execute cross-team platform initiatives.

AI-First Engineering Expectations

• Exhibit a proven history of using AI-assisted methods to enhance delivery speed and quality across various projects.
• Create team strategies for AI-supported development and coach team members on effective practices.
• Assess AI-assisted technologies with a holistic view, considering security, privacy, intellectual property, and compliance; ensure alignment with company protocols.
• Utilize AI to improve operational excellence, including better incident triage, log analysis, and automation of routine tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of professional software development expertise.
• Proven experience in building and managing distributed services in production environments.
• Strong capabilities in system design, encompassing data modeling, API development, and performance/reliability trade-offs.
• Ability to foster technical alignment across teams and achieve results in complex problem-solving scenarios.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge in IAM-related service design, including token-based authentication and authorization policies.
• Experience in developing or integrating user provisioning and entitlement services.
• Familiarity with secure platform patterns, including secrets management and defense-in-depth strategies.
• Cloud computing experience is highly desirable, especially with OCI; knowledge of AWS/Azure/GCP is also acceptable, including containerization and orchestration.
