Job Description Summary
Turbine Engine Test Engineer is a specialized mechanical or aerospace engineer responsible for validating the performance, durability, and safety of gas turbine engines. Works in test cells, conducting both R&D testing and production acceptance tests, using data acquisition systems to analyze performance data, and troubleshooting issues found during testing.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and execute engine test plans, procedures, and test cases.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and utilize computerized data acquisition systems (DAQ) to monitor real-time performance, including pressures, temperatures, and vibrations.
- Analyze test data using Python, MATLAB, or specialized modeling tools (e.g., NPSS) to verify engine operability, durability, and efficiency.
- Design and integrate instrumentation (sensors) onto test rigs and engines.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or software issues and coordinate with technicians to perform repairs.
- Ensure all testing adheres to safety protocols (e.g., OSHA), environmental standards, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Document test results, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to engineering teams and customers.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing, quality, mechanical, systems or aerospace engineering experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing, quality, mechanical, systems or aerospace engineering experience.
