Load & Control Engineer
DEIF A/S
About the role
About the role
In this role, you will contribute directly to the structural integrity, controllability, and lifetime performance of wind turbines. You will work at the interface between loads, control systems, and turbine subsystems, collaborating closely with experts in load and control engineering.
Your work will support product development, optimisation, and certification using state-of-the-art aeroelastic tools and data-driven engineering methods, with a strong focus on system-level dynamics, load generation, and control interaction.
Your key responsibilities
- Perform aeroelastic load simulations in accordance with IEC 61400-1 and project-specific requirements
- Analyse system-level dynamics, including control–structure interaction and load propagation
- Develop, maintain, and validate aeroelastic turbine models for different platforms and configurations
- Conduct stability, modal, and controller–structure interaction analyses
- Identify design-driving load cases and derive engineering recommendations for key turbine components
- Support development activities from concept and optimisation through prototype verification and certification
- Assess safe operating states based on measurement data and engineering analysis
- Validate turbine behaviour and aeroelastic models using field measurement data, including comparison of simulated and measured loads and responses
- Develop and maintain Python and MATLAB tools for efficient simulation workflows and data analysis
- Work with and further develop models in Bladed and OpenFAST
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Several years of experience in wind turbine loads, aeroelasticity, or control-related analysis
- Strong hands-on experience with aeroelastic simulation tools, in particular Bladed and/or OpenFAST
- Solid understanding of wind turbine system dynamics and load generation mechanisms
- Advanced skills in Python and MATLAB
- Experience with IEC 61400-1 load cases and certification processes
- Fluent in English
Advanced skills
- Experience with control design, controller tuning, or control–structure interaction studies
- Experience with measurement campaigns, load validation, or operational data analysis
Location
Skive, Odense, Silkeborg (DK), Rendsburg (DE), or Klagenfurt (AT). Hybrid work is possible.
