About the role
Looking for a skilled Machine Learning Engineer to drive the implementation and improvement of AI strategies and platforms. This role is crucial for enabling Data Scientists and Decision Scientists to work more efficiently and ensuring that Capitec stays competitive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Purpose Statement
Platform Improvement and Support:
Build, implement, improve, and support platform enhancements to facilitate efficient work for Data Scientists and Decision Scientists. Support the delivery of Capitec’s AI strategy by ensuring effective use of AI technologies.
AI Strategy Collaboration:
Collaborate in creating and executing the AI strategy to maintain Capitec’s competitive edge through the effective application of AI technologies.
Experience
Machine Learning and Software Development:
Proven experience in machine learning and software development. Experience delivering non-standard predictive models into a production environment.
Technical Proficiency:
Experience with Python and SQL. Familiarity with modern software development best practices. Experience working in cloud environments. Experience with big data processing frameworks.
Qualifications
Minimum: Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering (Other). Ideal or Preferred: Relevant certifications or additional qualifications in machine learning or data science.
Knowledge
Machine Learning Model Life Cycle:
Knowledge of the full lifecycle of machine learning models, from development to deployment.
Machine Learning Patterns and Concepts:
Understanding of various machine learning patterns and concepts.
Distributed Systems:
Knowledge of distributed systems and their implications on machine learning workflows.
Data Structures and Algorithms:
Understanding of a broad range of data structures and algorithms, and their appropriate use.
Engineering and Operational Excellence:
Knowledge of engineering best practices and operational excellence.
Debugging and Troubleshooting:
Ability to debug code using common troubleshooting techniques such as metrics, logs, and traces.
Predictive Modelling Techniques:
Expertise in statistical and machine learning predictive modelling techniques and deployment.
