About the role
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s transformation into a mobility company, focusing on human-centric innovation in mobility. They are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Intern for their Perception team to conduct research and develop machine learning models for autonomous driving, working closely with experienced engineers.
Responsibilities • Perception ML model R&D by prototyping, validating and iterating on existing and new model architectures • Own development of a new model functionality end-to-end • This means initial development, optimization, production platform validation, and fine tuning based on metrics and on road performance • Team player and 'get things done' mentality • Produce a final report and present to the autonomy team • Collaborate closely with other Perception team members as well as with upstream and downstream customer teams
Skills • Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree with research focus in: Computer Vision, Robotics, Deep Learning • Strong programming skills in Python and ML development with PyTorch • Proven ability to develop ML models • Extensive experience in deep learning • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate concepts clearly and precisely • Passionate about self driving car technology and its potential for humanity • Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026
